The Vidhana Soudha police are on the lookout for a clerk from the department of Directorate of Translation, state government, who has duped many people of several lakhs, promising them government jobs.

The racket came to light when Lokayukta officials visited the office looking for Soumya G, based on a complaint by one of the victim.

While an investigation has been initiated, Dr KS Geetha, the director, has filed a cheating complaint against Soumya seeking action.

Soumya who works as 2nd division assistant in the department met Chandrika, a victim, at Vijayanagar a few months back, and offered her a government job for a price.

Chandirka readily agreed and paid close to Rs one lakh as advance, and was asked to wait for sometime.

When Chandriaka did not get any response from Soumya, she started pestering her. Soumya then forged an appointment letter for her, and gave it to Chandrika.

When Chandrika approached the department with the letter, senior officials told her that its fake and further inquiries lead to expose the scam.

During the investigations, it was revealed that Soumya has not only cheated Chandrika but have also duped many people offering appointment letters against money. Soumya has been absconding since the last 15 days.

Vidhana Soudha Inspector D Ashok said, "We have taken up a complaint, and are investigating.

Preliminary enquiries reveal that she has cheated around 20 people. However we would get the real picture only after questioning her."
