Couple murdered in posh Jayanagar

An elderly couple was found murdered in busy Jayanagar on Saturday.

Police suspect Rangan (79) and Vasantha (75) may have been murdered because of a property dispute. Real estate prices are high in Jayanagar, one of Bangalore's best planned layouts, and the couple had just finalised a deal to sell their house. Third Block, where the couple lived, is choc-a-block with shops and commercial establishments.

Rangan and Vasanthau00a0were found with their throats slit, but they were not robbed. A dog squad traced the scent some distance and then gave up.

Rangan had retired from government service as deputy accountant-general.
