Delhi High Court on Tuesday restrained a section of Air India pilots from going on strike on Wednesday to press their demand for higher pay and better working conditions.
Justice Gita Mittal, in an order, directed the Indian Commercial Pilots Association to adhere to their statements made before the court that they will not take the coercive step till the conciliation proceedings headed by the Chief Labour Commissioner concludes.u00a0u00a0u00a0
A senior Air India official said the pilots union has agreed to accept the court's order and will have to reply to it in four weeks.
Also, the Air India board on Tuesday approved a plan to float a Rs 2,000-crore bond issue through Air India Charters Ltd, a profitable subsidiary which runs low-cost operations under the brand name of Air India Express.
Meanwhile, expressing concern over instances of use of fake documents to get pilot's licences, Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi on Tuesday said an instruction has been issued to the DGCA to examine all the licences issued in the past and establish a procedure for more detailed verification while issuing such licences.
