Commissioner BK Gupta made the announcement on Wednesday

Delhi police will keep its promise of being "With You, For You, Always". Well, at least on Facebook. Police Commissioner BK Gupta announced on Wednesday that city cops are all set to join the social networking site soon.

"The force is planning to open an account on Facebook, one of the popular social networking sites, so the public can easily get in touch and communicate with police," the newly appointed police commissioner told reporters.

"The police need immediate feedback from public and that is easy with this social network site. The overwhelming response to our traffic wing has also made us to opt for this," Gupta added.
Delhi Traffic Police have close to 39,000 members.

New rules

As part of the series of reforms introduced since he took over recently, Gupta now plans to appoint a woman station house officer in Delhi University and deploy more women on beat patrol. He also wants to set up help desks to ensure more visibility of the police force on the campus.
