They climb it and will keep climbing it, height of the central verge notwithstanding.

Proposed foot-over bridges in Delhi to be constructed for the Commonwealth
Games. The one on the left will have a lift attached to it

However, the Commonwealth Games is changing a lot of city infrastructure and some mindsets, too, hopefully.
The Delhi government has embarked on a unique initiative to equip nodal roads with state-of-the-art foot-over bridges, making them as convenient for commuters as possible. The new bridges would have lifts attached to them so that people who find it hard to take a flight of stairs would happily use them.

It should be noted here that a number of road accidents occur daily due to jaywalking and despite the traffic

police running drives to impose fines on such offenders, the menace continues to haunt motorists.

"The Mathura Road project will be the largest single span bridge of its kind in Delhi. There will be no girder or pillar supporting the bridge in the middle," the official said.u00a0

The DIMTS is constructing these bridges for various agencies, including New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Public Works Department of Delhi (PWD).

The bridges are being considered vital for managing traffic during the Commonwealth Games and are coming up at different key roads in the city. Notable among them is the first ever foot-over bridge on the BRT corridor at Pushp Vihar.
