Head to the World Dance Festival celebrations in town

There is a bit of insanity in dancing that does everybody a great deal of good. This Edwin Denby quote is most relevant in today's testing times, and here comes a chance to put it to good use. The first ever World Dance Festival that the country is hosting is on in the capital, and everyone's cordially invited.


From far and wide
The three day gala aims to unite dancers of the world through the medium of dance. The participating nations include Brazil, India, United States, France, England, Australia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, South Africa and Serbia among others. The festival will bring to India accomplished performers and dance champions in different genres across the globe.


Zouk sako to Zouk lo!
The festival, being organised by a Brazilian firm, will include artistsu00a0 like ballerina Carla Lazazzera and Sheila Mello, Latin rhythms teacher Douglas Mohmari, Hip-hop artist Henrique Bianchini, founder of largest Salsa school in India Kaytee Namgyal, and one of the most famous classical dancers of India, Uma Sharma. The participants will get a chance to groove to rhythmic beats of Salsa and Jazz, along withu00a0 hip-hop and street dance. Offbeat dance forms like Zouk, Arabic Zouk, Capoeira and Pagode will also be a part of the three-day festival. "We aim at bringing together dance enthusiasts from all across the country and introducing them to interesting forms of dancing which are completely unique and new in India," says Raquel Novais, a representative.

Step by step
Apart from the popular classical forms like Kathak, pulsating Punjabi tunes and ever-fashionable Bollywood numbers too, will add to the extravaganza. The affair will see a complete array of dance workshops where you can learn various forms of dance from experts themselves.
