Food trays, mats drenched, guests had to wait 20 minutes for food at Global Investors' Meet
Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa may have got a huge response in the Global Investors Meet, but it was the unexpected rain, which played spoilsport.
The hard-hitting rain fell on the food trays, which were kept under trees, and the caterers struggled to transfer them in the dining hall. The guests had to wait at least 20 minutes for the food.
The rain continued up to more than an hour and drenched the mats. Finally, the management removed the mats and cleared way for the guests.
Yeddyurappa and his team had made good arrangements for the event, and the first day was a success, but it was the trees on the Palace ground that played spoilsport.
Of the 10 trees in the grounds, five trees are present at the auditorium venue itself. Because of this, organisers could do little to cover the space, which ultimately got drenched by the rains.
Stall owners had requested organisers to cover the space, but nothing could be done about it, as it is a temporary auditorium.
One of caterers, Prakash, said, "We faced some problems during the rain and we transferred the trays. Hopefully, it won't be repeated next time."
Stall owners shrugged it off by saying that this could happen anywhere. They added that they were hopeful of getting good response from the organisers and spectators.
| Trees Fall |
| Trees continued falling in the city because of the rains. In Sudham Nagar limits, a coconut tree fell, damaging two mopeds. This is the third day Bangalore has seen rains, uprooting nearly 115 trees. It also caused massive traffic jams in central and west Bangalore. |
