Authorities have installed 'e-Daan Peti' (electronic donation box) at three popular temples in coastal Raigad district, to extend facilities to pilgrims while making extensive use of Information Technology.

"The innovative way of digital donation through "e-Daan Peti" facility was implemented at Mahad, Pali (Ashta Vinayak) and Hari Hareshwar (Lord Shiva) temples in Raigad district under the "digital India-digital payment" initiative of the Central government, a senior official said. The e-donation systems are an initiative of district Collector Dr Vijay Suryawanshi, the official said.

"By using the "e-Daan Peti" facility, devotees will now be able to donate through BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) app to the temple trust bank account directly, in a hassle free and convenient way, he said. Devotees can pay directly to mobile number linked to the BHIM app by scanning the QR code and use of UPI facility, the official said.

The temple administration will be able to make donations more transparent and convenient by using this facility, he said. The technical support for the facility was provided by Chinta Mani Mishra, Technical Director and scientist Kunal Bhamare of the National Informatics Centre, Raigad, he said.
