However they have to take up the complaint yesterday reluctantly, after the company approached the
High Court. Taking a serious note about the inaction, the court directed the station house officer to be present and explain why the complaint was not registered in the first place.

"If what has been stated in the petition is true, then it amounts to lawlessness in the State," the court observed. Justice B S Patil passed the interim order on a petition filed by Subhiksha Trading Service Limited alleging that Avalahalli police failed to register the complaint given by it againstu00a0 Fayiz and others.

The petitioner company operates its warehouse and office on a premises that belongs to Fayiz since 2005.
The petition says that Fayiz and 20 others barged into the premises and ransacked it, while the Avalahalli police did not take any action after a complaint was lodged.

"No action was initiated even after sending a complaint to authorities such as the Home Minister and others," argued the petitioner's counsel Sandesh J Chouta, while alleging that Fayiz and his men tried to take away materials stored at the warehouse, but were prevented after the police intervened.

The petition also says that the officer in charge called the representatives of the firms for settlement, instead of registering a case. Superintendent of police Dr B A Mahesh was not available for comment.
