The Union Cabinet has asked the Attorney General of India to assist the apex court with respect to Section 377.

In July, the Delhi HC ruled that homosexual intercourse between consenting adults was not a criminal act.

Later, the SC agreed to hear a petition seeking to annul this ruling.
