The government on Monday said it would invite bids for the 4,000-MW Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) in Chhattisgarh by the month-end and for the one at Theyyur in Tamil Nadu before March.
The government on Monday said it would invite bids for the 4,000-MW Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) in Chhattisgarh by the month-end and for the one at Theyyur in Tamil Nadu before March.
"The Request for Qualification for the Chhattisgarh UMPP would be invited at the end of this month and for the Theyyur in Tamil Nadu before March 2010," Power Ministry Joint Secretary ICP Keshari said at the powerline conference.
He added that two pit head location (in Orissa) for these projects have been shifted to coastal areas because of the water availability issues. "We have shifted the site of two pit head locations to coastal areas due to availability of water from the sea," he said adding that water is a becoming a problem for coal-based projects.
