Now seafood leaves the fine dining table and makes it to a fast food counter at good value for money

If the coast counts as your haven for food then here's your quick fix to all things fishy. Located in an atrium in a mall-like setting on the bustling Brigade Road, Blue Fin Seafood Cafe has no place for those who don't care about seafood. So, if your not-so-seafood crazy pal decides to tag along, warn him/ her that the welcome drink is all that might come his/ her way (the menu has no desserts).

Colaba Prawns

Also, if you are worried about people gaping at you while you eat, from all directions, just don't pay attention and just let your hands do the eating because this is where you get messy.

We started off seafood snacking with a refreshing Colber Indian Berry Drink (Rs 20), a sweet and tangy preparation with the coastal fruit Kokam. The drink is sure to refresh you after a shopping spree around town and leave you asking for more. For the starters came Crab Cutlets (Rs 79), Prawn Wafers (Rs 20), Prawn Spring Rolls (Rs 99), Shrimp Balls (Rs 75) and Fish Cutlets (Rs 69). The spring rolls were quite a delight and came with a thin, crisp and non messy crust and a filling of mildly spiced tender prawns inside. Also unique was the pack of prawn wafers that came along. Made from 30 percent prawn extract these wafers are mildly flavoured and a perfect light snack.

For the main course you can choose from the regular London Fish N Chips (Rs 150) or Super Value Meal Combo (Rs 139)u00a0 that gives you a choice of one speciality prawn or fish fillet preparationu00a0 along with two Kerala Parotas or Rice, Coastal curry and au00a0 Colber drink. Amongst the prawns, we recommend Serangoon Prawns (Rs 99), prawns tossed Singapore style in black pepper, soy and oyster sauce which is flavoursome and tender with a good bite from the pepper and the tangy sauces. The Colaba Prawns (Rs 99) are a good option if you're looking for something mildly spiced, doused in butter and garlic and letting the actual flavour of the prawn come through.

Amongst the fillet preparations we strongly recommend the Karaikudi Fish Fillets (Rs 99) for those looking for a spicy affair. Prepared in Chettinad style the fish is tender with a little gravy and oozes the flavours of cumin and a mix of typical spices. The fish curry and rice take you back into comfort food zone with mild spices along with a hint of coconut. Easy on your pocket, Blue Finu00a0 Seafood Caf ufffd promises a full seafood meal dished out in the fast food style, complete with use-and-throw cutlery that almost forces you to use your hands. What it does not give you is ambient dining that is easily associated with seafood.
