With 1,000 works on display, art addicts couldn't ask for more at Art Mart II, a three-day event that opens this Friday
Gurgaon, the 'outsourcing' capital of the country, which ones used to be the hub of night shifts and killer cabs, is now transforming itself into the hub of art and culture. Considering this, Art Mart, a pan India art event in its second edition is going grander with more than a 1000 art works on display. More follows on the show.u00a0 
Worth a thousand words
The satellite city will play host to numerous artists, galleries and stalls for three days pulling huge crowd of art lovers, collectors, dealers, curators and experts. The exhibits include paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, installations, photographs, prints, digital and video art, mixed media and performance art. One of the interesting events will be a photography exhibition, Gurgaon Wall, curated by lensman Dinesh Khanna. As a part of a community initiative titled Millennium City: Through Your Lens, it had invited professional as well as amateur photographers to capture the spirit of city. Another attraction is sculptures and installations by artists like Anjolie Ela Menon, Anil Dayanand, Arpana Caur, Arzan Khambatta, Avijit Dutta, Dhruva Mistry and Paresh Maity among others. Sushma Behl and Uma Prakash will curate the al fresco show that deals with playful art as its premise.u00a0

From one of the oldest continuously inhabited corners of the earth, handpicked artwork will be showcased in this event. Artists from Tanzania and Kenya will acquaint Indian art lovers with their paintings in a show curated by the Zanzibar-born artist and author Muzu Sulemanjee.

But it is not going to be only about renowned artists strutting their wares. If you have a hidden Picasso in you, then there is a Draw and Paint workshop you can participate in. Meanwhile, the kids can show off their artistic prowess by participating in on the spot painting competitions.
