The national capital is expected to witness a hot day Friday with the maximum temperature likely to hover around 39 degrees Celsius. Weather officials, however, said there was a possibility of thunderstorms by evening.

Delhi Friday recorded a minimum of 28.6 degrees Celsius, four notches above the normal for this time of the year.

But the skies could turn cloudy with possibility of thunderstorms later in the evening, an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

The maximum temperature Thursday saw a drop of five degrees and settled at 35.5 degrees Celsius after the city saw a dust storm.
