Sunday afternoons are passe; you will find your quirky stylish self on a Tuesday afternoon instead, according to designer Anuja Mukim

Funky accessories brand Tuesday Afternoon's name has got nothing to do with the 1967 Moody Blues classic by the same name. In fact, while the song talks about lazing around on a Tuesday afternoon, 23 year-old Anuja Mukim believes that Tuesday is the most productive day of the week. "Tuesday afternoon, in particular, is when we're at our creative best.

Most of the products are a result of rounds of Tuesday afternoon brainstorming. Somehow, the name clicked," says Mukim. Tuesday Afternoon sells bags, travel cases, belts, dresses, broaches, storage cases, planners, and coffee tables in materials ranging from autorickshaw upholstery to Chinese reflective plastics in pop colours.u00a0

Take a stylish bike ride
You will find the humble bicycle printed on almost the entire line produced under Tuesday Afternoon. Mukim explains this obsession with bicycles as, "Bicycles are ubiquitous and indispensable in our daily lives. It represents a return to simplicity, a return to something functional, yet stylish and classic, with a hint of audacity at the same time. Converting them to zany prints makes for a great kitschy effect."

Mukim, who has just graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai in May this year, began selling a few products at Attic initially, during her student days. A positive response encouraged her to start her own label Tuesday Afternoon in September. Childhood friend Natasha Sipani (23) decided to pitch in her business management skills for this venture.

It's good to be anti-fashion
Mukim believes that fashion is not only about flouncy skirts, high heels or being fake.u00a0 Fashion can be anti-fashion, quirky and original, she believes. "Tuesday Afternoon offers you an alternative from the mundane designs of mainstream fashion apparel and accessories. But we prefer to think inside the box to stay in sync with what people need," Anuja adds.

Mukim promises that flaunting Tuesday Afternoon stuff will surely earn you appreciative second glances and head turning. Meant for any age, all you need to be is a bit free spirited and should love to experiment.
