Krishnagar: An 11-month-old girl has had a miraculous escape after she fell from her mother's lap on the rail tracks at Bishnupriya Halt Station at Nabadwip in Nadia district. The doctors of Nabadwip State General Hospital, where the baby was rushed to after she was rescued, declared her unhurt.

Rupsa, the infant daughter of Pratima Halder of Nabadwip Hiland colony, fell on the tracks when her mother tried to board a local train. Rupsa slipped from her mother's grip and went down through the gap between the platform and the train. Soon, the train began to move.

Petrified with fear, Pratima lost consciousness but other passengers rescued the baby from near the rail tracks, railway officials said. They rushed the infant and her mother to Nabadwip State General Hospital where the doctors declared the baby unhurt.
