The victim, who had contested the last Assembly poll on JMM ticket, was on the driver's seat of his car when two motorcycle-borne assailants fired at him and fled, Superintendent of Police Anish Gupta said.

Massive raids were on to apprehend the culprits.

Asked about the reason behind the killing, Gupta said it was yet to be ascertained as none was ready to speak out.

Hora had contested against Neelkanth Singh Munda, who is Jharkhand Rural Development Minister, in the last Assembly poll from Khunti seat.

JMM Khunti district committee has called for bandh tomorrow in protest against the killing.
