In a bid to provide better services to air passengers, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is constructing two swanky aerobridges at the Lohegaon airport. The aerobridges, which will be ready for public use by the end of June this year, will enable passengers to directly access the main terminal building from the aircraft and vice-versa.
"Being built at a cost of Rs 2 crore each, the aerobridges will not only help passengers save time, butu00a0 will will prevent them from being exposed to scorching heat and heavy rains," said, G Chandramouli, the outgoing Airport Director. He added that the demand for the aerobridges was made soon after the second phase of the airport's modernisation started and was a consolidated as an order by AAI.
Giving details about the ongoing modernisation of the Pune airport, Chandramouli, said, "A departure terminal is being built to the right of the existing one-storey terminal and will be operational by this month, while an arrival terminal is being built to the left of the existing terminal."
