According to the police, Talegaon resident Sawmi (25), hailing from Madhya Pradesh, visited Lonavla yesterday with five friends.

“On Sunday morning, he and five friends came to Lonavla on bikes. In the afternoon they all entered the water, but Sawmi did not know how to swim and drowned. His friends tried to save him, but failed,” said Senior Police Inspector of Lonavla police station, Vishnu Pawar.

As per information given to the police, Sawmi used to work as helper in the Talegaon Dabhade-based GM. He added that they alerted local residents and subsequently, the police was alerted. “In the afternoon, lifeguards managed to fish out the body,” Pawar said.
