A supervisor of a private factory was robbed of Rs 5 lakh in broad daylight in Malleshwaram on Monday.

The robber diverted the driver's attention and made away with the bag full of cash.

Suresh Kumar withdrew money from Syndicate Bank and was walking towards his car.

A man came and told him the bank manager wanted to see him. Suresh left the bag with the driver Rajesh Kumar and went back towards the bank.

When he returned Rajesh was standing outside the car without the bag.

He then told Suresh that while he was waiting in the car, a man passed by and dropped Rs 60.

Rajesh for a brief moment left the bag to pick up the money.

When he returned, the bag containing Rs 5 lakh had vanished. City police have advised banks to be on high alert, owing to the increasing number of such robberies using diversion tactics.

The Malleshwaram police, who have taken up the case, said they are interrogating Rajesh and Suresh Kumar to ascertain if they played any role in the robbery.
