Indian execs are hopeful that Obama will be the man to beat the recession blues
The sword of recession is hanging over their jobs and successive government efforts to revive the economy have failed. Tough times indeed for a young working professional. But there is light at the end of tunnel. Many Indian executives feel that Barack Obama may well be the messiah they all were waiting for.
Though the world is yet to see what policies the Democrat would pursue, people are looking forward to the first coloured President of the United States with hope that the enigmatic leader will be able to fight recession just as well as he fought hardships to reach the pinnacle of power. Obama will take oath as the 44th President of the United States on Tuesday.
"Recession will die a slow and sure death after Obama will take over," said Mukesh Kumar, who lost his job as an executive with ACME Telepower.
"He (Obama) will kill recession as soon as he takes over," said Saurabh Kumar, a software engineer, who was given the pink slip.
Many of them are thinking beyond economics and feel that it will inspire a whole new breed of politicians in India. "It may trigger the end of grand-old netas in the country and motivate the youth to enter politics," wrote an Orkuttian.
"The slogan of change that Obama raised so effectively in the US, can be done here too. We too can change," said Pankaj Kumar, an MNC executive. "Let the youth of the country lead," said Naveen Kumar, a call centre employee.
