Smart Cards available at 18 stations will enable commuters to park vehicles in safety

Want to park your car safe at the Metro station? Get Metro travel Smart Cards now. Also, for regular commuters, who always get a rough deal as non-commuters occupy most of the parking space, here's some good news. The DMRC has come up with a smart deal for the benefit of daily commuters so that they get their rightful place in the DMRC parking lots.

With effect from September 8, Delhi Metro will implement revised parking charges for all Metro stations. The new rates are being implemented in accordance with the prevalent parking rates in the MCD and NDMC authorised parking areas in the city.

"Besides, the DMRC has introduced a scheme of registration of regular commuters for issuance of monthly parking passes at select Metro stations from Thursday, so that the genuine Metro commuters can avail of the benefit of Metro parking," a DMRC official said.

Under this scheme, any regular commuter using a Smart Card will be issued a monthly parking pass if he/she has used the same for at least 20 days in the preceding month. The commuter will be required to submit his/her request in a prescribed format along with copies of driving license, registration certificate and the smart card at the Metro station.

The usage of the Smart Card will be verified by DMRC and the parking contractor will be advised to issue the monthly parking pass, or abstain from doing the same, accordingly. The passengers may contact the customer care centre, the parking attendant or the station manager of respective Metro stations for any query in this regard.

Initially, 18 Metro stations have been covered under the 'Monthly Parking Pass Scheme,' which has been introduced on Thursday, September 1, including Moti Nagar, Rithala, Patel Chowk, Inderlok, Shahadra, among others.
