200 residents stage seven-hour sit-in to protest dumping of 20 truckloads of animal waste
Bakri Eid was ruined for residents of Modi Garden as they were forced to spend the auspicious day protesting the dumping of animal waste in their area by the BBMP.

Three dumpers rolled into the area to dump waste around 1 pm and residents thought it must be the usual garbage. However, a stink spread through the area within a few hours, making itu00a0 intolerable for residents to stay in their houses.
More than 20 dumper-loads of animal waste generated on Bakri Eid was dumped in the area throughout the day, they alleged.
Buoyed by support from the youth, residents decided to protest and 200 of them gathered to do so. The sit-in began at 6 pm and residents began to start puncturing the tyres of tractors that were coming into the area.
"We requested them to not dump the animal waste in our area but they didn't listen. We had no choice but to take extreme steps to avoid the problem.
This reflects how our area has been completely ignored by those in charge," said Ratnamma B, a resident of the area.
Frustrated residents lodged a complaint with the DJ Halli police station. The police asked the BBMP to answer for the dumping.
The impasse was finally resolved at 1 am when the area councillor assured the residents that the problem would be solved in the morning. BBMP officials were unavailable for comment.
