There's a new donut shop at Aundh that would have made donut-crazy Homer Simpson happy. On offer are a variety of unique donuts that threaten to become your breakfast-staple

In a city where donuts itself are hard to find, a caf ufffd specialising in donuts is a bold step indeed. But Caf ufffd Peterdonut, which opened a few weeks ago at Aundh, turned to be worth every penny. After all, each donut is homemade and fresh.

As you enter, the brightly-coloured walls lift your spirits instantly. The owner Chanseok Jung, who is originally from South Korea, was seated at one of tables with his wife and welcomed everyone with a smile. The attendants were attentive and informative as well.

We chose to sit on the leather couches by the huge glass windows overlooking the street. The entire caf ufffd is painted in three shades - black, white and red ufffd making it look youthful. To the side is a counter displaying colourful donuts and cookies and right beside is the room where these items are made.

Caf ufffd Mocha (75), Lemon Ice Tea (Rs 65), Original Donut (Rs 40), Rainbow Donut (Rs 60), Cinnamon Sugar donut (Rs 56) and Coco Marble donut (Rs 107). Though the list was enormous, we couldn't resist the lure to taste them.

We asked for a Caf ufffd Mocha (Rs 75) and Original Donut (Rs 40) to start off. The donut was fresh and tasted yummy, especially with the lemon icing on top. The coffee was too strong for us and was served in a huge mug that could have been sufficient for three people.

The Lemon Ice Tea (Rs 65) and Rainbow Donut (Rs 60) came next. The glass of sun-steeped lemon iced tea was refreshing and the Rainbow Donut was soft and had chocolate icing with colourful gems.

The iced caramel stuffing in the Coco Marble donut (Rs 107) was an interesting choice and it was complemented by the chocolate cream filling.

The Cinnamon Sugar Donut (Rs 56) was fresh and had a distinct buttery aftertaste while the taste of the cinnamon was subtle, just like we wanted.
