Catch Surabhi, a Hyderabad group bring on stage some of the best narratives of Indian mythology
Kings, queens, gods and fairies will share space cheek-by-jowl on a Bangalore stage this weekend.
Ranga Shankara is all ready to present a plethora of mythological Telegu plays by Surabhi, a Hyderabad- based group with special visual effect, grand sets, melodious music and more to enthrall you for the next three days.
Here is the line up for the weekend:
Baala Naagamma
Bhulakshmi, the childless queen bears seven daughters after praying to a sage. But she fails to keep her promise to King Nagendra and is killed.
The daughters get married to their maternal uncles. Mayala Malati, an evil magician kidnaps Balanagamma, the youngest daughter, Balanagamma's husband and his brothers are turned into statues when they come to rescue her.
Only Balavardhi, her son is left them and he sets out to rescue them.

Sri Krishna Leelalu
Suddenly cobras spread hoods on stage, varunastras and agnayastras light up the sky and you can see the universe in the small mouth of the little boy Krishna.
The play describes the power and wisdom of Lord Krishna. It begins with how Kamsa, the maternal uncle of Lord Krishna was warned by Narada that the eighth child of his sister will kill him.

Sri Krishna Leelalu portrays Kamsa's efforts to destroy Krishna and his ultimate failure.
On Saturday, May 22
Maya Bazaar
This is a mythological tale from the epic Mahabharata. Abhimanyu, the son of Arjuna falls in love with Balarama's daughter Sasirekha.

The families oppose the match but the couple decides to face all odds. Ghatotkacha, the demon son of Bheema offers to help them. With special visual effects like clouds and real pigeons flying around, the play is a treat for eyes.
