The entire digitisation work has been outsourced to a Hyderabad-based IT company eJAS, which will complete it in about a year's time. Also, NFAI is spending Rs 3 crore in 2008-09 and would be spending Rs 7.50 crore in 2009-10 for the same.

"It is a Herculean task and will be made in one single software," said Vijay Jadhav, director, NFAI. According to Jadhav, NFAI is the one of the few places where such original documents are made available to the film lovers.

"The documents will be updated regularly. Besides, the documents will be put in special boxes to enhance its life as it will be quite useful for people in their research work," he said. Jadhav added that NFAI also intend to digitise the rare issues of Film India, which used to get published in 1930s.

"The idea is to create a single folder for each film in which one can access photos, wall papers, pamphlets and everything related to that particular movies at a go," said Karkhanis.
