Almost a month after MiD Day reported about how the NGO Human Rights Association of India (HRAI), in collaboration with traders from the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Vashi, had organised a fundraiser to help the flood-affected victims in Uttarakhand in the last week of June, its members recently met Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and handed over a cheque of Rs 2,85,660.
A group of five people comprising HRAI members — president Balasaheb Garud, vice-president Radheshaym Gupta, general secretary Rajesh Sarkar, joint secretary Kanhaiya Nishad and secretary (Navi Mumbai) Ramesh Datir — presented the cheque to the CM. Apart from being members of HRAI, all five men are traders at the APMC market.u00a0
Datir said, “We met Prithviraj Chavan on July 27 and presented him with the cheque. We are sure that this money will be used to help the victims.”u00a0
