Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday urged his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis to provide an acre of land to set up another Odisha Bhavan in Mumbai.

Odisha already has one Odisha Bhavan at Vashi in Navi Mumbai.

In a letter to the Maharashtra chief minister, Patnaik requested for a piece of land in the area of Kharghar or Panvel to build an Odisha Bhavan to provide accommodation for the needy cancer patients and students frequenting Mumbai.

"To meet the growing demands of cancer patients of the state proceeding to Mumbai for better treatment at Tata Memorial Hospital and to accommodate a good number of students proceeding frequently to Mumbai to attend different interviews for higher study, it has now become absolutely necessary for creation of more accommodation facilities in Navi Mumbai for them," said Patnaik in his letter.
