Though the project commenced in May, the leaking roof of the hall is yet to be fixed.
The state decided to renovate the Council Hall to commemorate 75 years of the first session of the State Legislature that was held here on July 19, 1937.u00a0

“Restoration work of any ordinary structure generally takes around three months. But keeping in mind the Council Hall’s heritage status, restoration needs to be done carefully and with the help of an expert. Unavailability of heritage experts is delaying the work. It will not be easy to complete it even by the year-end,” Kalamdani said.
He said restoration work of heritage structures require special construction material and needs to be imported from various states.
Kalamdani said that besides being a heritage structure, the hall is a government building and requires him to take permission for to execute smallest of the restoration works.
“Even the smallest of the works require permission from the state, which is a time-consuming process. This affects completion of work on time,” Kalamdani said.
