Four musicians, together for the love of music, bring to you jazz, blues and more, all in one this evening

Four established musicians, having performed across the world and across genres, decided to come together, to bring to their audience, a different melody.

This was the rather humble beginning of Kaya Quartet, a band that features Arati Rao on vocals, Sharik Hasan on the keyboard, Adrian D'souza on the drums and Prakash K N on the bass..

"It was not as friends that we came together but as musicians to give ourselves a challenge and the audience what they were looking for", Rao, co-founder and singer of the band, says.

The band started in 2002 by Rao, was named after her daughter.

Rao says "My daughter Kaya has been an inspiration in my musical career and our band has four members, so I decided on a fitting name 'The Kaya Quartet'. "Our only passion is to create experimental music," she says.

The band is here to add some jazz (literally) to your Wednesday.

They plan to kickstart the evening with the best of contemporary jazz and a mixed bag of classical blues all the way to funk and lounge music from the 70's.

"All of us have our own agendas and our own inspiration as individuals. What keeps us together is the fact that all of us come with a balanced temperament," says Rao.

The four musicians have played on different platforms across the world and are rooted in their respective genres.

"Each of us has a different style of music. What keeps us going is the oneness that comes through our music itself." Rao tells us. "We play covers and modify them in our styles, live at the gigs", she adds.

The Kaya quartet finds its influence in jazz and blues, inherent with a subtle, deep and melodious sound. With their unique contemporary take, the band is all set to dazzle you tonight.
