London's Hamleys, one of the world's largest toy shops comes to Mumbai, and it's brimming with the latest fads in toy kingdom. Go with plenty of time, patience and a fair bit of cash
Walk into Hamleys at High Street Phoenix, and its like entering one of those rooms in Lewis Carol's imagination, larger on the inside than it looks from the outside. The shop is big, bright, and bursting with every toy, game or plaything imaginable.
Hamleys is divided very practically, lengthwise, into two sections; one for boys and another for girls.
In the girls' section, you find plush animals, Barbie dolls, and play sets, while the boys' section is riddled with a selection of toy guns and weapons, remote-control cars and train sets.
What's interesting is that it's more than just a toy store.
It's a big, sumptuous toy emporium. Besides the large collection of toys from known brands like Lego, Playmobil and Funskool, Hamleys showcases names like Marvin's Magic, Furreal, Leap Frog and Smoby, which are new to India.

A lot of the toys are on live display for the kids to feel; there's a playpen, a racing track for remote-control cars, a Barbie salon where Barbie customers are treated to a free makeover, and a counter on which children can tinker with clockwork animals.
