Disgraced IAS officer, held for spying, getting food delivered in lock-up

Many Delhi colonies do not get pizza delivered to their doorsteps, just because they are not considered 'good' enough by the fast food joints. But, if you are an IAS officer you can even get your favourite crust topped with cheese and exotic vegetables to even a lock-up cell.

Ravi Inder Singh, Director, Internal Security, who had been apprehended for spying and now lodged in a Special Cell lock-up at the New Friends Colony police station, is still enjoying his babudom.

Singh is getting his pizza and other fast food delivered to his cell and savouring the hospitality of the cops, who, according to him "could not even dare to see him eye to eye", sources in the Special Cell told MiD DAY.
During his interrogation by the Special Cell sleuths, Singh had told them that the Delhi Police "is too small an agency" to have caught him.

"The Delhi Police Commissioner had to wait for an appointment to meet me in my North Block office," Singh reportedly told his interrogators.

Sources confirmed that special care is being taken, as Singh is a high-prized catch. They told MiD DAY how the IAS officer is being allowed to have his favourite fast food, along with co-accused Vinit Kumar. Both are under police custody till Monday.

Ravi Inder Singh, senior IAS officer who was working as the director in the internal security division of the Home Ministry and is a 1994-batch IAS officer, was arrested on November 22 under the Prevention of Corruption Act and on charges of criminal conspiracy. Kumar, a Kolkota-based businessman, was allegedly acting as a broker on behalf of Singh.

Sting in the tale

Around 12,000 telephone conversations of Singh were intercepted, before being apprehended. The IAS officer was using three mobile numbers which he had procured on the basis of fictitious identity.
Singh was not staying in his official quarter and was residing in a guest house in posh Greater Kailash, instead. The rent of Rs 50,000 per month for the guest house was being paid by a company, Temptation Food Pvt Ltd, which was managed by Vineet, police said.
In a clear case of corporate snooping and apparent violation of conduct rules, police said, Kumar has been allegedly trying to make a "deal" with a US-based telecom company, Telcordia, for illegal gratification on behalf of Singh for providing secret information from the Home Ministry in return of a few crore rupees.
The company's application related to security clearance in connection with Mobile Number Portability was pending with the ministry.
