Sahakarnagar Police who first only showed readiness to accept her application filed an FIR after a relentless pursuit by the woman concerned. However, he was immediately released on bail.

The next day the 30-year old woman revised her statement and added rape charges against him.

The woman in her statement has said that she had first met Ghorpade about two-and-half years ago for getting permission to trim branches of the trees in her housing society. After the officials demanded a bribe for granting permission, she did not pursue the matter.

But, she received a notice from the garden department after somebody else cut the trees without her knowledge.

When she approached the garden department she was introduced to Ghorpade who exchanged mobile numbers with her.

They developed a professional relationship. Subsequently he started sending objectionable messages to her. Ghorpade, who also asked his subordinate to click their photo together, allegedly started threatening her.

He is also alleged to have raped her on many occasions at various places including Ozar, Pandharpur, Ganapatipule and Mahableshwar.

Police argued before the court that they needed to visit these places for further investigation.
