Joint Commissioner of police (crime) Alok Kumar refused to divulge more details about his involvement saying, "We have nothing to say."

Madani's indictment was based on the confession of T Nazeer, the prime accused in the Bangalore blast.

Abdul Nasar Madani has been booked as one of the conspirators in the blast because he knew about the terror attack but did not inform the police.

In his confession, Nazeer had said that he, along with his associate, Rahim, met Madani at his residence in Kollam in Kerala in July 2008, seeking help to carry out terror attacks in Bangalore.

After hearing the plan, Madani had said that the plan was good, but warned that it should not result in the arrest of youth just the way it had happened in the Coimbatore serial blasts.

He did not discourage Nazeer from carrying out the plan, but did not approve of it either. Nazeer confessed this to the Bangalore police during his interrogation.

"He was non-committal and did not even ask for plan details," Nazeer had said. Even after carrying out the blasts, Nazeer met Madani.

Nazeer wanted Madani to give time to discuss about Jihad activities, but Madani started avoiding him, giving out an impression that he was drifting away from the Jihadi mode for his political career.

Police sources, however, maintained that Madani has been booked as one of the conspirators in the blast because though he knew about the terror attack, but did not inform the police making him an abettor.

Earlier, MiD DAY had reported about the possible involvement of Madani in its edition dated May 20, 2009, but the city police had denied his role then.
