In a strange twist to tale, potholes on a road proved to be the saviour for a 15-year-old. Allegedly, the minor had been kidnapped by three people, identified as Prateek Pandey, Deepak and Surender.

The car they were travelling in, however, got stuck in a pothole mud and the accused fled in panic. They even left the car behind. The incident was reported from the Ranhola area of West Delhi.

The victim, Neha (name changed), works in Rajouri Garden area. She and her mother were on their way back home when the incident took place. They were near the Kakrola mod when the accused dragged Neha inside their Santro and drove away.

Mud-dled
Neha's mother ran behind the car, shouting for help. "The car of the accused could not pick up speed as the road leading to Najafgarh had many potholes. Many passers-by heard Neha's screams and rushed to her rescue. Meanwhile, the car got stuck in mud. Panicked, the accused abandoned the car and fled," said a police official.
The mob then caught hold of Pandey and handed him over to the police. "Police have lodged an FIR in this respect. The owner of the car had nothing to do with the incident," said police.

DCP (west) R Ranganathan said one of the accused runs a playschool in the area. "One of the accused was
held from the crime spot. Another surrendered himself in court on Saturday. The third accused is still on the run," said the DCP.
