Around three dozen calls were made to the fire department, and surprisingly, all calls were due to heavy overload of power, which either caused short-circuit or fire in transformers across the Capital late in the night. The officers from the fire department were busy fixing the problems and most of the fire tenders could be seen roaming in the city.
"We had received quite a number of minor calls from different areas of Delhi. All the calls were made because of some incident due to spark or fire in electric wires inside homes. Also, it was reported on electricity poles and we even got calls relating to transformers catching fire. Most of calls were made from Karol Bagh, Paharganj and densely populated areas of Delhi. It seems like all these incidents are happening due to heavy overload of electricity," said a fire officer.
