The incident has been reported from Mangolpuri area of outer Delhi. A senior police official said that the deceased was identified as Rahul, a resident of Y-block in the area.

"Rahul was taken to the local crematorium. The priest there noticed that the boy's throat had multiple injury marks. He questioned the family members but Rahul's relatives refused to talk about it and said that they only wanted to cremate the body. The priest got suspicious about their behaviour and made a call to the Police Control Room (PCR) informing about the case," said a senior police official.

The official said that a team was immediately sent to the cremation ground and the body was taken from the family members and sent to the mortuary at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for post-mortem.

Police interrogated Rahul's family members who said that he had committed suicide and they did not want the police to conduct a post-mortem and so they tried to hush up the case.

"According to the deceased's relatives, he could not perform well in an exam and was in depression since then. On Saturday evening Rahul hanged himself from the ceiling of his room. This is what his family is saying," said the police official. The officer added that the police have not recovered any suicide note.
