"Muralidhar Rao would be adviser to the president apart from the existing adviser Prabhat Jha," a release said.
Rao, who was brought into the party last month as a national executive member, will give economic policy inputs to the party.
In an another development Sudhanshu Mittal, a former aide of late leader Pramod Mahajan, was appointed co-incharge for the northeastern states.
"Sudhanshu Mittal would be co-incharge and would assist SS Ahluwalia," it said. Mittal played a key role in sealing seat-sharing arrangement with AGP in Assam.
