Radio station launches self-defence campaign for Mumbai women

Tying up with certified martial arts trainers across the country, Radio City will present a four-day physical training session for women that can help them defend themselves.

Women’s woes
Recognising the need to train women than just talk about rising crimes against them, the campaign aims at giving ‘wings of freedom’ to women. The trainers on board have specially designed a module to fit the essence of self-defence skills within a short schedule. The training would equip women on the basics of martial arts and karate that can help them overcome the fear of striking back. Improvement in reflexes and reaction time is also one of the key highlights of the training.

Social responsibility
Speaking on the initiative, Apurva Purohit, chief executive officer, Radio City 91.1 FM, said, “Radio City has embarked on an activity of this kind for the first time in its journey of 11 years. As an organisation, we place paramount importance on the safety of women employees and this is what we want to replicate outside our office too. Our initiative of equipping women with self-defence skills reflects the need at the moment.” Interested candidates can enroll for the session by messaging ‘Safecity’ to 56070.
