Three armed robbers barged into a cloth merchant's house in Anand Vihar area of east Delhi and robbed cash and jewellery worth lakhs after keeping the family members hostage at gunpoint.

Police said the victims claimed that at around 3 pm three persons posing as courier boys rang the bell and then forcibly entered the house. "The four-storey house, located at a busy street in Rishabh Vihar in Anand Vihar belongs to Lajpat Rai Jain. The robbers held Jain's wife and daughter hostage for almost an hour. Interestingly the robbers, before leaving, checked some boxes kept on the first floor and even took candies from them.
The police said that at the time of the incident Jain's wife Veena, daughter Deepika and his four-year-old granddaughter were at home.u00a0u00a0"They were carrying knives and country-made pistols. They threatened us and even gashed my foot. They tied our hands and locked us in a room. After that the robbers opened up all the water taps and increased the TV volume," said Deepika Jain.
