Gang rivalry suspected to be the reason; murderers remain unidentified

In a sensational double murder, two rowdy sheeters were killed by anonymous people in a crowded bar late last night. Police suspect the hand of rival gangs in the duo's murder, which comes hot on the heels of another rowdy sheeter Naga's murder on Saturday.

Babu alias Diamond Babu and his accomplice Muniraju alias Munna had been involved in anti-social activities for the past ten years. Police recognised them as rowdy sheeters as they had more than 10 cases filed against each of them.

Babu from Vijay Nagar and Munna of Magadi were involved in cases of extorton, murder and theft. Arrest warrants had been issued against them in several cases and the police had recently stepped up their efforts of hunting down the duo. Last night, they were drinking at Dhruv Bar at Magadi Road when a five-member gang entered the bar with weapons around 10.40 pm.

They caught Babu and slit his neck. Munna tried to escape but the gang caught up with him and killed him as well. The waiters and other staff at the bar were too shocked to react and the gang managed to escape.

The bar's management immediately informed the police but the duo had died by the time they reached the spot. The bodies were sent to Victoria Hospital at 1 am and further investigation will be taking place today.

"Both were rowdy sheeters and were involved in several anti-social activities. We got the news at 11 pm and rushed to the spot. We don't know who killed them yet. We have formed several teams headed by senior officers to nab the members of the gang. We will apprehend them soon."

Police sources said the duo had come to the city a few days back. They had conflicts with opponents over money and this was the reason they were killed, they said.

The bar's manager refused to divulge details and said he would narrate what had happened to the police.
