A 14-year-old schoolboy died after he was mowed down by a speeding truck near Don Bosco School in Yerawada yesterday.
Navnath Kande, class VII student of Netaji High School, was riding pillion on his friend Manish Kanade’s (12) bicycle when the truck coming from the opposite direction knocked them down.u00a0

Police said that Navnath came under the wheels of the truck and died on the spot, while Manish, who fell on the other side of the road, escaped with minor injuries.
The Yerawada police have arrested the driver of the truck who was later identified as Mahadu Hanmate. Police said that the deceased and his friend were returning home from school when the incident took place in vicinity of their school. u00a0
