Smooth sailing for govindas

After a day of partying and celebrations, city only reports six cases of injuries

Dahi handi was celebrated without a hitch in the city. Yesterday only six cases of fractures were reported after the celebrations. Around four cases of fracture were reported at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital and two cases at Sassoon Hospital between 10 pm and 11 pm last night.

The four cases at YCM were reported from Bhosari areas and the four have fractured their feet. According to Dr Sanjay Sonekare, CMO, "We have got four patients with fractures because of dahi handi but none are serious. The last case was reported to us around 11 pm. They have been given proper medications and will be fine. Apart from it, there have been no other cases reported."

A doctor on duty at Sassoon Hospital said that two patients with fractures have been admitted to the hospital. "They have got fractures in the ankle and foot."

The police followed the deadline of 10 pm to the mark across the city. Police vehicles were posted along with officials at all major spots of the city including Budhwar Peth, Raviwar Peth, F C Road and JM Road.
