BDA exposes impostor claiming to be beneficiary who was granted land 33-years-ago but never turned up to claim possession

The Special Task Force (STF) of the Bangalore Development Authority exposed an impersonator trying to gain possession of a plot allotted to another person 33-years-ago.

The racket came to light when Murthy PN, the tehsildar of STF, on suspicion sent the thumb impression of the impersonator with the genuine beneficiary for finger print analysis.

Murthy who filed a forgery complaint against the impersonator with the Sheshadripuram police said that the BDA has allotted a Site number 1670/51 to a man named Venkatarasan in Kengeri satellite town in 1977.

After the payment of fee and other formalities, the BDA issued a possession certificate to Venkatarasan and took his thumb impression along with proof of identity.

The BDA then sent remaining documents to the Kengeir Muncipal council that have not been collected by Venkatarasan till date.

Meanwhile, another person claiming to be Venkatarasan approached the BDA and sought a duplicate of the possession certificate.

He had earlier filed a complaint with the Kengeri town police that he had lost his original possession certificate and hence wanted a duplicate.

Suspecting the man to be an impostor, BDA officials asked the man to give a thumb impression.

After the impressions were matched with that of the man who had been granted the plot, the authorities confirmed that the new claimant was an imposter.

The man, who identity has not been ascertained so far, has been arrested and police are hunting for the man to whom the plot was granted.

Sheshadripuram police who are now on the look out for the real Venkatarasan. "We are investigating if the man being questioned by us is involved in other rackets of this nature.

It is too early to share more details as the investigations have just begun," said Omkaraiah, assistant commissioner of police, Sheshadripuram.

Neither Murthy PN nor the man being questioned by the police could be contacted for comment.
