Deaf and mute Rashmi Shah killed his father, as he was being 'nagged' to take up a peon's job

There were blood stains on the walls outside flat number 6 on the first floor of Krishna Kunj society in Cantonment area. Inside the one-BHK apartment, sat a shocked wife Jyoti and daughter, while a calm and composed Rashmi Kirtikumar Shah (40) was led out by cops at around noon yesterday.

In a shocking incident, the deaf and mute Shah (40) was arrested for stabbing his retired father Kirtikumar with a dagger for "nagging" him to work as a peon instead of acting in Hindi movies.

Kirtikumar (65), a retired Bank of India employee, screamed for help as Shah stabbed him twice in the stomach and both his hands. And first to rush to the spot was Shah's mother and sister Vaishali.

Speaking to MiD DAY, Vaishali said,u00a0 "My brother did not work and my retired father had to fend for the entire family." Residents of the building came rushing and called the police after which cops from Lashkar police station arrived and arrested Shah for murdering his father.

PI Vitthal Rane (Crime) said, "Shah purchased the dagger as the weapon is not an ordinary kitchen knife. It indicates that he was planning this for a while."

Idle dreams
According to Kirtikumar's younger brother, Shailesh an insurance agent, "My nephew wanted to join the film industry, but as my brother retired he got a job for his deaf and mute son as a peon. But he was irregular on the job."

"His wife and seven-year old daughter recently returned to Jalgaon to stay with her parents," he added.

Incidentally, Shah's wife and daughter are also deaf and mute. Shailesh added that Kirtikumar was forced to work even after retirement as his son did not support the family.

Said Rane, "We will summon some experts to record his statement after presenting him before the magistrate."
