State appoints 10-member committee to solve Mumbai's traffic woes

The State government has appointed a 10-member committee to work on the contentious issue of Mumbai's vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

The committee has been asked to submit its report within 10 days to the Bombay High Court where a PIL on the same issue has been filed. The committee was formed acting on the directive of the HC.

While the committee will be headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Home), other principal secretaries of urban development, transport department, transport commissioner, joint commissioner (MMRDA), additional municipal commissioner (roads) in BMC, joint police commissioner (traffic) as well as members from the state, civic and police administration will be part of the committee.


To represent the general public, Nitin Dossa, chief of the Western India Automobile Association, Ashok Datar of Mumbai Environmental Social Network and Madhav Pai, director Embark India have been appointed.u00a0
