Rumours related to the second edition of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) have revealed an obvious rift within the otherwise uncontroversial Sandalwood industry.

With the current people's favourite actor Sudeep leading the Karnataka Bulldozers in the first edition, it seemed like everything was going well for the team before internal conflicts began to erupt.

Sources close to the actor reveal that he had no plans to lead the team in the soon-to-begin second edition.

Karnataka's earlier favourite, Puneet Rajkumar aka Appu was the chosen man to lead the team.

"He was projected as the icon for the team initially, but after informing Ashok Khenny, who owns the team, about lacking dates, Sudeep's name came into the picture" revealed a source close to the actor.

Meanwhile, many supporters and close aides of Sudeep deny this report and claimed that he was always the chosen one, as he has a past cricketing history.

When this reporter questioned Sudeep, he said, "The next season has just been announced and preparations and selections will happen only in November. Any news of my non-participating is false."

An open war
With actors such as Ravichandran, Darshan, Duniya Vijay, Shivraj Kumar and Aditya Singh Rajput not being selected in the first edition of the game, industry insiders reveal that an open war has broken out.

"All big actors were ignored as soon as Sudeep took over the reins. When he was given a free hand by Khenny to conduct team selections and choose his own men, he selected only people he is in good terms with," revealed another source.

Meanwhile, denying any conflict within the team or the industry, Sandalwood producer and a player in the team Shankregowda stood firm. "There is no conflict. The practice will begin at the end of this month and we are all supporting Sudeep," said Shankregowda.

Interestingly, Sudeep is currently shooting two movies for this producer. Also, Sudeep's supporters comprise of those members of the industry, who the actor has signed movies with or has a good relationship with.

While the Karnataka Bulldozers couldn't perform well in the first edition, it remains to be seen if the second edition will yield better results.
