The fare in country's first private Metro rail project in Gurgaon has been set at a flat rate of Rs 10

The fare for country's first private Metro network in Millennium city Gurgaon has been fixed at flat Rs 10.

"As per our current estimates it has been worked out at Rs 10. However, it could be revised by the time it becomes operational as the Delhi Metro is also revising its fare structure. We will take their fare structure also into account," DLF Metro Executive Director CBK Rao told MiD DAY.

The fare, if at all revised, would not go beyond Rs 12 when the DLF Metro is made operational in 2012, added Rao, who was associated with Delhi Metro as Director, Projects.

Work on the 6.1 km long DLF Metro is going to start very soon. "Either in December or January 2010, the work will commence," he said.u00a0 A senior DLF Metro official said there would be common ticketing for both Delhi Metro and DLF Metro. "However, so far there is no plan to give any sort of rebate on smart cards and tokens for the commuters who take both the networks," he added.u00a0u00a0

The DLF Metro will be integrated with Delhi Metro at Sikandarpur Delhi Metro station, which will be made operational by next year.

Rao said that as per current estimates, the rider ship has been estimated at 1.5 lakh commuters per day.

"Three coaches trains will be used with a passenger carrying capacity of 900 passengers per train," he added.

The frequency of the trains can be reduced down to 90 seconds. "But when Metro is made operational in 2012 we will synchronize the frequency with Delhi Metro network so that commuters have not to wait for long. The average speed of the Metro will be 30 km per hour that can be increased up to 80 km per hour," added the official.
