This Tuesday, the city hosts a unique seminar that will discuss how fabrics from North-East India have held stories and fables in their intricate weaves

What to expect: Conceptualised by Siyahi, this one-day conference explores story-telling traditions through textiles from Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Manipur. Panel of speakers include Zasha Colah, Rahul Bhattacharya, Sentila Yanger, Desmond L Kharmawphlang, Cherrie Chhangte and K Sobita Devi. Sessions will trace narratives in various North Eastern textile forms like The Luingamla Keshan, Naga Shawls, the Sherdukpens, Hmar and Paitei textiles and Manipur textiles.
The North-Eastern states with their unique motifs, weaves, dyes and prints, have been an age-old medium for sharing tales, recording legends and perpetuating myths and folklore.
