The Khed police yesterday arrested a primary teacher who allegedly raped a 12-year-old student on the school premises on December 9. He had been absconding since the incident.
The police received a tip-off that accused Prabhakar Thukaji Burse (35) would be going to his village in Khed yesterday. Sub-Inspector Seema Dhakne of the Khed police station said the police laid a trap and arrested him around 6 pm.
Burse, a resident of Rajgurunagar, was teaching in the Kaman village Zilla Parishad School in Khed taluka.
